Dorothy M. Bickford


Alan is a trial attorney with three decades of experience in probate litigation, complex commercial litigation, technology disputes, securities litigation, personal injury, product liability and medical malpractice litigation, fidelity and surety law, and construction litigation.  Alan has represented individuals, small and large businesses, financial institutions, regulatory agencies, and insurance companies.

Alan has achieved a high rate of success for both plaintiffs and defendants.  In addition, he has had consistent success in prosecuting and defending appeals in state and federal courts.  Alan has also negotiated multi-million dollar settlements in numerous cases.

Alan is a member of the Massachusetts Bar and has appeared in the U.S. Court of Appeals for the First Circuit, the U.S. District Court for the District of Massachusetts, and the U.S. Bankruptcy Court for the District of Massachusetts (including the Bankruptcy Appellate Panel), as well as the following Massachusetts courts: the Appeals Court, the Superior Court, the Probate and Family Court, the Land Court, and the trial and appellate divisions of the District Court.

For twenty years, Alan was an attorney and partner at Peabody & Arnold LLP, where he served as Chair of the Financial Institutions Litigation Practice Group and handled a wide variety of civil litigation for individuals, small and large businesses, and institutional clients.  Before entering law school, Alan worked as a software designer and developer for Massachusetts General Hospital and Texas Instruments.  He has been with Badger and its predecessor firm since 2002.

Beyond the Badger Law Group LLP
Alan has performed pro bono work for the Conservation Law Foundation of New England, the ACLU of Massachusetts, and the National Consumer Law Center.  He has been a program chair, speaker and author for many committee and CLE programs and publications for the American Bar Association, the Defense Research Institute, Massachusetts CLE, and the Boston Bar Foundation.  Alan has also performed volunteer service for the Town of Dover, Massachusetts for many years, as Chair of the Cell Tower Advisory Committee, Chair and Member of the Warrant Committee, Chair of the Finance Committee on Roads, and Associate Member of the Zoning Board of Appeals.
